In 2022, Watt Footprint partnered with the Better Energy Communities (BEC) to initiate a significant project at Castlerosse Park Hotel.

The objective was to modernise their pool heating system, optimising efficiency and sustainability.

The energy retrofit project at Castlerosse Park Hotel faced formidable challenges due to outdated and inefficient oil-fired boilers, presenting significant financial and environmental hurdles. The existing system created a dual challenge, straining finances and contributing to environmental concerns. The primary objective of the project was to alleviate these challenges by implementing measures that would not only cut the client's energy expenses but also mitigate the environmental impact associated with the outdated infrastructure.

From this a number of measures were deemed viable including:

  • Boiler Replacement with Heat Pumps: Overcoming financial and environmental obstacles, the project involves replacing outdated boilers with highly efficient medium-temperature air-to-water heat pumps.

  • Alignment with Sustainability Goals: The advanced systems implemented align seamlessly with the hotel's sustainability goals, concurrently enhancing operational efficiency.

  • Integration of Solar Photovoltaic Panels: To supplement clean energy and mitigate environmental impact, specific solar photovoltaic panels are integrated into the project's framework.

Embarking on this transformative journey, the energy retrofit at Castlerosse Park Hotel aims not only to cut energy expenses but also to make a significant contribution to environmental responsibility and sustainability.

The collaboration between Watt Footprint and Better Energy Communities has yielded remarkable results in the energy retrofit project at Castlerosse Park Hotel. The outcomes are as follows:

  • Energy-Efficient Pool Showcase: The project's successful completion highlights the hotel's pool as a prime example of energy efficiency, demonstrating the tangible impact of the retrofit initiative.

  • Significant Reduction in Energy Consumption and Emissions: The exceptional performance of the heat pumps resulted in a noteworthy reduction in both energy consumption and emissions, marking a substantial achievement in promoting environmental responsibility.

  • Enhanced Environmental Sustainability with Solar Panels: The integration of solar panels provided an additional layer of environmental sustainability, underscoring Watt Footprint's steadfast commitment to incorporating and promoting sustainable practices.

These results not only validate the efficacy of the undertaken measures but also showcase the tangible benefits of prioritizing energy efficiency and sustainability in hospitality operations.

In the final stages of preparing grant documentation alongside BEC, Watt Footprint embraces the achievements of this collaboration. This partnership underscores the positive impact derived from blending expertise and innovation to revolutionise energy systems.
